Practical Tips
1. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. You could still buy expensive trash if you're not careful.
2. Don't be the first to buy a new model. You just might become a guinea pig.
3. Know when to shop. Shop before the gardening season and make great savings.
3. I shop offline because I like to try out my tools before I pay. Things like weight and ease of handling can't be evaluated online.
4. Buy from reputable shops. If you need a garden tool that is sold in a shop you already visit, buy it there. The devil you know is better than the angel you imagine.
5. Most times you'll get your moneys worth. The cheaper the cost, the cheaper the quality. Don't waste a lot of time doing extensive market research just to buy a trowel. Buy the best you can afford and enjoy some rest.
Buy Cigarettes online
6. You don't need to buy every garden tool on the market. Get what's absolutely necessary. There will always be new tools every year.
7. Before you pay any money, read the returns policy very well. Know under what conditions and during which period you can return it.
8. Cheap doesn't mean low quality. Would have explained better but it's already explained here.
9. Never Never Never buy on impulse. You may think you need it now but will you still need it tomorrow?
10. Whenever I shop, safety is my biggest concern. Those who have kids know what I'm talking about. No price is too high for safety.
11. I agree with the contribution that no price is too high for safety. That's a brilliant piece of advice. I'll add that not only parents should be concerned, other should too. If you've ever had a garden accident you'll also place enormous value on safety.
12. Protect yourself. Never buy from a shop with your credit card if you don't see the verisign logo.
13. Open your eyes. The price tag doesn't always tell the real value. Let me explain. You see a lawn mower and the price tag says Old price = $200 then it also says 25% discount, New price = $150. If you buy it you will go away happy. But that's until you walk into another shop and see the same lawn mower for $125. No discounts. Only $125. You actually lost $25 when you thought you saved $25
14. Read the shipping policy. You don't want to order a tree pruner in anticipation of a weekend of good work and have it delivered on Monday morning. Yes, it's happened.
15. Discounts aren't always publicized. It won't hurt to ask. You might be shocked at what you find.
16. Read the fine print of any guaranty or warranty. There are always conditions attached.
17. Take advantage of discounts on bulk purchases. Plan ahead and buy as much as possible from a shop to qualify for such discounts.
18. Don't buy what you don't need simply because of the large discount advertised.
19. When shopping online, look before you leap. When you see adverts like buy 1 more item to qualify for 30% discount. Make sure the added tool you have to buy to qualify for a discount is worth the effort. check the value of that same tool at another shop and do the maths. Check amazon or ebay
20. Advertisements can be misleading. Don't believe all you see or hear. Verify first.
21. Manufacturers and authorized dealers are your guaranty for high quality.
22. People underestimate the value of customer support until they need one and can't have it. If you ask me, I'd say shops with 24 hr customer support (online or telephone) are the places to go.
23. Take advantage of coupons. They are an easy way of making savings.
24. Do a bit of research before you buy any garden tool online. Put the power of the internet to work for you.
